How many times does it have to be said that this is no longer about speed humps. It is about
corruption, poor judgment and WASTED TAX DOLLARS! There are no "well to do" houses. There are people who "work hard" and do not expect to be given things for nothing. The houses in Leigh Manor were once nice, the people who live there should "work hard" and keep them that way. If it takes working 3 jobs, so be it. I have done it. Some people in government prefer to give things to people. When you give things to them, they vote for you. It is just a different variation of "pay to play". It also reinforces the belief that they are unable to provide for themselves. If someone works hard for what they have, they feel better about themselves. They also start to think for themselves and don't feel obligated to return favors. They also don't appreciate someone else giving away what they have worked hard to earn. You are right, Leigh Manor is horrendous. Half the houses are boarded up. It would be less expensive to demolish them and let people start over. It is illogical to think that fixing them up will lower crime. Give the saved tax money to the "overcrowded school." Children do need help and protection. Put the police officer back in the school. Barbara Holcomb and her 4 cronies voted him out yet made a new high paying position for a 3rd captain in the police department!!!!
