TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE INTRODUCES ORDINANCE TO RAISE MUNICIPAL COURT JUDGE'S SALARY BY 25%

In the video clips below, the Township Committee debates issues concerning raising the Municipal Court Judge's salary by 25%.

1) Committeeman Barry Wright recuses himself from voting on the portion of the ordinance that involves the salary adjustment for the Municipal Judge, but still intends to vote on the ordinance. (CLICK HERE for details regarding Wright's conflict.) Committeewoman Gibison challenges and questions how you can isolate one part of the ordinance and still vote on the balance of the measures without voting line item by line item.

2) Dialog continues concerning the financial situation of the Township. References are made to the recent police officers who were laid-off and Township employees who were forced to take furlough days in an effort to save their jobs.

Committeewoman Gibison:

"...In regards to the Municipal Judge, who's salary if this goes through will be $49,054. as amended...One day a week of coming to Winslow Township..."

There will be a special public comment period during the September 28, 2010 meeting specifically for this matter. Typically this type of matter is handled early on in the meeting agenda. The meeting is scheduled for 7:30 P.M.
