VICTORY IN CEDAR BROOK -NO DENSITY VARIANCE

A meeting has been scheduled for Thursday November 11, 2004 at 6:00 P.M. with the developer of Forest Meadows at Cedar Brook. Plans for new houses off Pump Ranch Road will be discussed. Please recall this is the housing development that withdrew or postponed it's zoning application when area residents came to the zoning meeting-hearing and complained. The complaints were heard! The plans have been amended.

Location of the meeting is Villa Manor next to the Winslow (village) fire house.

Click here for the copy of the developer's letter and map to the meeting location.

Complementary coffee, tea and deserts will be served.

EMAIL RECEIVED BY UNOFFICIALLY WINSLOW

I don't live in Cedar Brook, but it's nice to read about someone in Winslow Township listening to the residents. Even if it is a housing developer!

Too bad we can't get Holcomb and Wright to listen to the people who elected them into office.
Does anyone know how much money Holcomb and Wright wasted with this speed hump thing? How many other issues are there that these two fools waste our tax dollars on?

OPEN PUBLIC RECORDS REQUEST FORM

ALL of the documents and official Township letters that are available on this web site, UNofficially Winslow.com have been acquired and copies paid for from Township offices.

As mandated by law all persons who would like to review and receive copies must be given that opportunity. As long as certain procedures are followed.

To my knowledge obtaining documents and information from any Winslow Township office has never been a problem*. In fact assistance to residents is always provided with professionalism. And in many cases with a smile.

However, this was not always the case with other near by communities. As a result Assemblyman George Geist (R) introduced legislation to correct this matter, usually the run-a-round, that was taking place in other communities.

In July of 2002 in an effort to dot the I's and cross the T's Winslow Township developed a modified procedure and small request form to be sure it complied with the new laws and standards regarding Open Public Records.

While some residents and employees feel the form is a hassle, I feel the form is a good idea. The request form protects the Township from any false accusations of requested documents, while guaranteeing the resident requesting the documents prompt action.

This simple form has three pages, but not three pages for the resident to fill out!
Page 1 asks for your name, address, and details of what public record you would like to review or have copies of. Page 2 of the form is just information about the Open Public Records law and a space for you and the Township official to sign. You are entitled to a copy, free of charge, of this page. Which also states when the documents will be ready for you to pick up. Many times the documents can be produced by the Township while you wait, depending on the time of day, available Township staff, and the degree of research required for your request. The Township is legally required to respond to your request for public records within seven business days.
Page 3 of the form is an area for the Township to respond to you, if more research time is needed, or if your requested documents is not a public document. If a document is not public, be sure to ask when it MIGHT become a public document. Minutes of public meetings are not public documents until approved and accepted by the applicable body. Such as the Township Committee or Planning & Zoning Boards.

Click here to review and print a copy of the form to request public records.

Click here to review and print information pertaining to the right to appeal a denial of access to a government record. Including a toll free phone number for assistance.

Look for this link and the Request for Public Records form in a new area of this web site being developed. This document and others will always be available and easy to access on UNofficially Winslow.com

* Recently, UNofficially Winslow herard a story about a Township employee in a supervisory capacity of the Contruction Office giving the run-a-round to a resident who requested permit information. It just so happens that the resident lives on Oak Leaf Road. The road with the disputed speed humps. There is a lot more detail to this story, perhaps the resident involved or the Township employee will email UNofficiallywinslow@comcast.net with the details. In the mean time Unofficially Winslow suggested to the resident to file the form Request for Public Records to cut through the red tape and general run-a-round that the resident claims to have received from this Township employee. This issue prompted UNofficially Winslow to post the above information.

LACK OF INFORMATION OR JUST MORE LIES? AL COOPER WANTS TO KNOW!

Is not just the issue of the speed bumps, it's the lack of information shared between Committee members. The Republicans (Cooper, Gibison, Pino, and the Mayor) are constantly asking for information not to be withheld from them. Especially when a vote needs to take place. While the puppets will vote however Holcomb and the County tell them to. The Republicans, minority party, demand to know the facts. Click on the audio link below and listen to Al Cooper refresh everyone's memory on how the speed study results were never made available. Al Cooper even challenges if the speed studies even exist. With no speed studies, our tax dollars were wasted for the speed bump installation and removal. The same theme and lack of information put on the table by the Winslow Democrat Committee members happens over and over again. Examples include, Weed & Seed, and Human Relations Commissions which neither officially exist in Winslow Township.

EMAIL REGARDING BARRY WRIGHT RECEIVED BY UNOFFICIALLY WINSLOW

Way to go Al Cooper! Call it like it is with Barry! Keep up the good job.
Barry has been shooting his mouth off everywhere and on everything.
Recently, he complained about a web-site for a neighborhood in Ward 2 and
made his little threats, so the owner of that web-site took off a picture of
Mayor Metzner and her wonderful comment. Barry needs to be stopped and
stopped now.

EMAIL REGARDING DEPUTY MAYOR RECEIVED BY UNOFFICIALLY WINSLOW

The Mayor is elected by the residents of Winslow--why should the deputy
mayor be elected by the dems on the township committee. Change the way the
deputy Mayor is appointed. Have the deputy mayor position voted on as well
by the residents.

EMAIL REGARDING WINSLOW EAGLES RECEIVED BY UNOFFICIALLY WINSLOW

I recently had the privilege of reading the minutes of last month's park and rec board. The Winslow Eagles midget football and cheerleading have requested that transportation be made available to children living in the Sicklerville section of the township so they can be taken to and from practice. I presume the township would pick up the funds for this request, just like they gave them additional funding to get their uniforms out of hock from the bill they did not pay because they had free registration. Even when owing the additional money this year they still charged less for registration than the other 2 fiscally sound football organizations. And now they even have portable lighting at the Calabrese field, donations? This is repetitive behavior from the redskins/eagles that has gone on for years. When will it end? Ms. Lawrence has taken over Mr. Bate’s job as the head of the Park and Rec board, a board that has made few accomplishments since it's inception. The hard working residents that give up their time for these organizations and serve on this board should be commended but the inability to make a decision that agrees with the committee's direction leaves it in limbo. All decisions about fields, funding etc. is never decided by this committee, it's just a sounding board and bull session to make the members think the committee cares, they do what they want anyway!

The transportation issue is a very poor idea! You would allow children to attend a sporting event without the parent present? Are you a babysitting service now? What happens if the child is injured? Will you return the child to their home without anyone present? Will you wait for the parent to return home? Will you feed the child, too? Will you provide the child with the needed equipment to play football? A cup and cleats? When will this end? The liability issue is vast!

When is someone going to take the bull by the horns and stop letting students from out of the township from attending in our school system. I think the school in Tansboro( formerly Edgewood), is nothing but a breeding ground for future criminals and is a waste of taxpayers money. I remember when this township had only 1800 residents in its entire 52+ square miles. I remember when one could leave the house with the door open and unlocked. Now, an alarm system is needed and a loaded shotgun behind the door. This township has gone to the dogs and unless we take it back soon, it won't be safe to live here anymore. Its time to shoot first and ask questions later.

This Township is full of vehicles with PA. tags. Everyone knows that most of these vehicles would be classified as (throw away) vehicles, because they are cheap, quickly registered and insured for a short period of time in PA., and used exclusively here in the area. Most of these vehicles are operated by mexicans who do not obey and/or know our traffic laws. They litterally CRASH & RUN and we suffer the consequences. There are laws on the books that mandate that a vehicle be registered in this state after a certain period of time. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to indentify these violators. Some may use as an excuse that they travel to NJ to work and back to Pa.. It won't take much to verify that excuse.

Winslow volunteer fire fighter writes to UNofficially Winslow

I am a member of the Winslow volunteer fire district. The fire fighters in Winslow have been a volunteer origination for over 70 years that has served Winslow Township. The fire commission has been running the origination for the last 10 or so years. The commission hired a new fire chief about a year ago. The new fire chief at the time of being hired said he wanted to keep the volunteers. Since he has been hired he has made some positive changes along with changes that will push the volunteers out and some have left.

The commission that had a full time staff of two employees have grown to eight full time employees. The break down is five secretary’s two fire marshals and the chief. The salary I guess range from 28,000 to 95,000 a year that is your tax dollars being spent for what. Inspections, Paper Work, and I guess progress.

The chief said he wanted to keep the volunteer and would not drive them out. The fire company’s have been putting out fires and answering the calls for over 70 years with no major problems. The chief has doubled up alarm boxes to make sure we answer the call. This is putting fire fighters and the public at risk when the call is a alarm system, public assist, ect. Ninty percent of the time one station has to recall the other station because they have answered the call. The chief will now want to go from seven station chief to three battalion chief this is the first step in consadlation of stations in Winslow Township. What he is doing is stacking the cards in his favor to hire full time fire fighters in Winslow Township.

Winslow Township has high enough taxes do they need to go higher??
Winslow dose not have enough business to keep a staff of six full time fire fighters on the street running calls. The district will need to pay this crew about 35,000 a year plus benefits are you willing to pay for that when the volunteer fire fighters have been doing it for over 70 years.
